Ideal for a wide range of construction sealing and adhesive applications, Kop-R-Lastic is a one-part, low-cost, high-performance thermoplastic sealant. Highly elastic prior to curing, it offers excellent adhesion to many construction materials after curing, including porcelain panels, bathtubs, windows, doors, marine surfaces and more.

Surface Preparation

Kop-R-Lastic should only be applied to surfaces that are free from oil, grease, wax, dust, corrosion, moisture, or any material that may interfere with obtaining optimum adhesion.

Concrete and Masonry

Fresh concrete should be fully cured and dried. This may require as much as 3 or 4 weeks. If surfaces are dusty, they should be blown or brushed free and cleaned. Mold release agents or curing agents should be removed as they will prevent good adhesion. If the surface has been exposed to oil based caulking, remove all material and sandblast or cut surface back to remove area of oil penetration. No primer necessary.

Aluminum and Other Non-Ferrous

Unless little movement will be encountered, remove any protective lacquer film with clean lacquer thinner. If the surface has previously been sealed or exposed to the air for a period, remove all previous compounds or surface oxidation via chemical treatment, solvent, or by sandblasting, wire brushing etc. No primer is necessary.

Steel

Remove all corrosion or coatings either by chemical treatment, solvent or by sandblasting, wire brushing etc. If chemical treatments are necessary, rinse thoroughly. No primer necessary.

Glass / Fiberglass

Wipe, if necessary, the surfaces to be sealed with clean, oil-free solvent and dry thoroughly. No primer necessary.

Wood

Remove all paint, other loose coatings. Sand to provide a good, clean surface. No primer necessary, not even on oily wood such as teak.

Joint Dimensions

KOP-R-LASTIC can be used in openings 0.32cm x 0.32 cm (1/8”x 1/8”) to approximately 1.27 cm x 1.27 cm (1/2” x 1/2”).

Back-Up Material

For good installation, when openings are greater than the desired depth, they should be packed with a supplementary material. For these purpose, backer rod joint filler is available and can be used.

Application Guide

1. For neatness of joint, adjacent surfaces should be masked with tape.
2. Apply KOP-R-LASTIC in the joint from the bottom up, filling completely and avoiding any entrapped air.
3. Tool the surface for appearance and insure adequate adhesion between the KOP-R-LASTIC and the joint sides. It is best to tool the surface with Toluol or Xylol.
4. As soon as application and tooling are completed, remove masking tape.

Clean-Up

Complete before KOP-R-LASTIC cures with Toluol or Xylol.

• Avoid inhalation and prolonged breathing of vapours and contact with skin and eyes.
• Do not take internally. Keep away from food.
• Provide adequate ventilation

First Aid

• EYE CONTACT: Immediately flush eyes with water for 15 minutes.
• SKIN CONTACT: Wash affected area thoroughly with soap and water.
• INHALATION: If overcome by fumes, give patient air.
• INGESTION: If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. For overexposure seek medical attention immediately.

The consumer shall satisfy themselves of the suitability of this product for the intended purpose. Weather, applicator's skill and surface conditions are beyond manufacturer's control. We, therefore, limit our liability to replacement of defective material only, within one year of proof of purchase.
