Surface Preparation

Clean area free of dirt, dust, loose debris, paint, efflorescence or any contaminants. Repair & fill any cracks or holes (we recommend using Stone Mason® repair products). Moisten concrete surface with water using sprayer or brush. Do not over saturate. Apply Plaster Mix over moistened surface.

Mixing

In a clean container place mixing liquid (one part Acryli-Bond to 3 parts clean potable water). Slowly mix in Plaster Mix until a uniform mortar consistency is achieved. Approximately 4 to 5 litres (4 to 5 quarts) of mixing liquid are required for each 22.7 kg (50 lb) bag. Let mixture stand for 5 minutes, remix and add a little more mixing liquid if necessary to bring to a suitable trowel or spray consistency. We suggest using a power drill with mixing attachment.

Trowel and float finish

Use a steel trowel, firmly pressing Plaster Mix into all voids and leveling it. Once the surface has set so that it will not roll or lift, even out the surface with a sponge float. The material should be applied to a uniform thickness of approx. 3 mm (1/8"). Sufficient material should be applied to thoroughly seal all voids and pores as well as level all uneven surfaces. If a second coat is required for leveling allow 4 – 6 hours drying time between coats.

Sprayed on finish

Using plasterer's-type spray equipment, spray-apply a uniform even coat of Plaster Mix to the entire surface. Float or brush out the first coat to fill holes, pores and imperfections before applying the second coat. After material has set, air and water bubbles have broken, double back over the surface with one more light uniform spray application to achieve the desired uniform texture. Keep the spray gun a uniform distance from the surface, move the nozzle with steady even strokes. Do not angle nozzle. Do not allow the hopper to empty on the surface.

Limitations

Do not apply to frozen or frost-filled surfaces. Do not apply when temperature is below 5°C (40°F) or will fall in the next 24 hours. Do not apply if rain is forecasted within 24 hours.

Coverage

Each 22.7 kg (50 lb) bag will cover 5 sq.m (50 sq.ft) at 3 mm (1/8") thickness.

Caution

Skin areas exposed to wet cement mixtures or concrete, either directly or through saturated clothing should be thoroughly washed with water at once. Persistent discomfort requires prompt medical attention. Wear tight fitting goggles when handling cement powder. Wear protective clothing to prevent skin contact with wet cement mixtures or concrete. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children.

First Aid Treatment

Cement when mixed with water results in a solution of calcium hydroxide. If splashed in eyes or skin, flush thoroughly with water.

Contains

Calcium oxide.

Tips

  • Dampen all surfaces immediately prior to application
  • Use a small test area to develop the technique required to perform plaster mix application
  • Leave all expansion joints uncoated
