Surface Preparation

All grease, oil, contaminants, ice or snow and foreign deposits shall be removed from all surfaces with which the grout will come in contact. The concrete surfaces shall be roughened to ensure bond. Concrete foundations shall be kept wet for a minimum of 12 hours before placing grout. All free-standing water shall be removed from concrete surfaces prior to grouting. For grouting of base plates, the formwork used to contain the grout shall be constructed in a workmanlike manner and caulked to prevent leakage of grout. Provisions shall be made at high points for air to be vented as it is displaced by the grout.

Mixing

A mechanical mixer is recommended. The size of the mixer should be appropriate for the volume of grout required. Mix NON-SHRINK GROUT using clean water, only the minimum amount needed to obtain the desired consistency. After all dry materials have been added to the water, continue mixing for at least 3 minutes. Grout should be placed within 45 minutes after preparation and it should be agitated until use.

Water required per 25 kg (55lb) bag to make different grout consistencies: Plastic grade = 3.78 L (1 gal) Flowable grade = 4.6 L (1.3 gal)

Application

The prepared grout shall be transported to the forms and deposited without delay. Vibration and agitation of the grout in the forms is permitted. Grout having been prepared but not placed within 45 minutes after preparation shall be discarded. Prepared grout shall be agitated until use. NON-SHRINK GROUT may be packed, poured or pumped.

Curing

After finishing procedures, curing measures should be started as soon as possible. Curing shall consist of the covering of all exposed portions of grout with wet burlap for a minimum of 3 days or by the application of a commercially available curing compound to the exposed shoulders.

Yield: 25 kg (55 lbs.) bag will yield 0.45 cu.ft. at a flowable consistency.

Limitations

Non-shrink grout must not be allowed to freeze while setting. Do not use the grout unless all surfaces with which it is to come in contact are above 5°C (40°F). Warm water should be employed under cold conditions and freshly placed grout should be kept at temperatures above 5°C (40°F) for at least 72 hours.

Cleaning

Clean-up with soap and water as soon as possible after application.

Caution

Corrosive. May cause eye injury. If product gets into eyes, flush repeatedly with water and seek medical attention promptly. Avoid skin contact. If contact occurs, wash exposed skin with water. Protective eyewear should be worn. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children.

First Aid Treatment

Cement when mixed with water results in a solution of calcium hydroxide. If splashed in eyes or skin, flush thoroughly with water.

Contains

Silica sands which may cause lung cancer.

Tips

  • For flowable applications mix no more material that can be applied in 20 minutes.
  • Smooth concrete surfaces should be roughed and old surfaces should be etched.

The consumer shall satisfy themselves of the suitability of this product for the intended purpose. Weather, applicator's skill and surface conditions are beyond manufacturer's control.
